sundo

THE DARK KNIGHT : NOT JUST YOUR ORDINARY BATMAN MOVIE

Yup. Am a Batman fanatic, no doubt about that. I even dragged eloi just to see the film last Saturday(after convincing that maganda naman ang audio sa galleria). They have single showing though(unlike in megamall) so I made it sure that ill make most out of the entire showing.

I was looking forward to check the movie release after I have learned that Heath Ledger co-starred as the Joker. Whoa. After seeing his performance (and partly, his butt..hehe) in Brokeback Mountain, I knew that he can do the Joker above par.

But I was mistaken. He was not doing the Joker. He is the Joker. (cliché as it may have reviewed by other movie critics). I felt the tingling suspense as he speak. The scene where he spoke to Rachel Weiss telling her tales of how he got his scar (plus his other anecdotes) made me shiver . he was creepy. Knowing that Ledger is already dead. But I find very weird because the totally of him as the Joker made me forget that he is Heath Ledger. Whew.

I think What made the Dark Knight a defined movie for 2008(aside from the record breaking top grosser amounting to whopping USD 190M) is not only for the credits of Bale and Ledger. The cinematography was subtle, discreet but with substantial impact for its simplicity( they had turned the large container truck upside down without stressing my eyes for the explosion). I did not get tired of the fighting nor the combat scenes. Christian Nolan brought me to where Batman’s heart is, after all , he was a normal, sensitive human being.

Despite the promotional items (from action figures, to all model gadgets, apparel , shoes, etc) and other advertisement, the Dark Knight successfully separated itself to the mediocre and stereotype action hero movies. I guess Nolan had depicted to its viewers the other side of Batman and Bruce Wayne (more detailed than Batman Begins) without distorting the Bob Kane definition.

NOTED: yet, I was astonished. Eloi slept at the middle of the flick!

THE NATIONAL PARK OF EDSA

BUS-TSD!

(the life and misunderstading of a commuter)

Minus the rant, I just want to describe what EDSA is during the rush hour. Long before I made my first entry in my blog ,I had already imagined what it look like to publish what I witness everyday in this historical boulevard in metro manila.

The GEOMETRY and PHYSICS of BUS STOPS

I bet, manila will rank first when it comes to bus stops. Taking for example the bus route from monumento to baclaran, there are nearly at least ten bus stops, can you bear it? I almost peed in my pants because of these dilemna when the aircon bus I rode into from magallanes to ortigas. The bus picked up passengers from ayala for 30 minutes, another 15 minutes in buendia station, estrella gas station, Guadalupe, pioneer Robinsons, then boni station (which is less than 50 meters apart!), crossing (the unbearable 30 minutes of SAGALA), megamall (building B,then building A) and at last, ortigas . hay apo.

In the long stretch of EDSA you will see the innovative and DISKARTE of the buses for them to get passengers. Even a fence with the large signage of WALANG SAKAYAN DITO …(with a threat of NAKAKAMATAY..) did not escape from the passengers just to catch the bus.

Only in the Philippines that you will see the parking of buses aside from parallel parking. Kulang na lang they will attempt to park perpendicular to the either sides. Matindi to pare. You could either choose to park your buses for possible passengers by the following angles : 30. 60, 120, 160 degrees. You name it. You can do it as long as you are in EDSA. Buses can even park nose to nose with other buses. How clever.

 TRAFFIC ADVISORIES

Radio and TV advocates the traffic situation in Manila by feeding updated information to motorists.  I find it helpful  even for a commuter like me.  I can choose what route to take going to office based on the reports.  But as House will tell you, its not the cure for the illness.  There is still traffic problems no matter how accurate and updated the info is. I have proven this when the Ayala mishap had immobilized the traffic flow in the southbound area .

Patience is a virtue.

This is a minimum requirement once you decided to stay here in manila. You got to extend your patience to wait and to bear the painstaking traffic..especially when an accident took place at the middle of a busy boulevard..especially, when you’re destination is heading thru EDSA.

The collision of an oil tanker carrying a flammable gas called ethanol with the railings along Ayala southbound created a pandemonium yesterday. The accident took place around 3 in the morning but the towing and securing the road from ignition started almost 8 arleady. I thought, I will not going to make it to my work . I have to text rms that I’ll definitely late.

I’ve chosen to take C5 road, initially since there is an fx bound to Kalayaan where FTI jeepneys are parked. But , unaware of the accident, i have no choice but to wait eventually for an hour before the Fx arrived, another  hour and a half from Rosario to Kalayaan, and another half an hour to my work. It was so taxing. The three hours seem like forever, and  not to mention the heat.

Today, another accident happened at the exact location where the tanker collided yesterday. It was a truck of sand. Two mini-accidents followed because of  the urge to get through the way. Unbelievable.

Am beginning to miss home.

I was almost late this morning. But this amazing, luxury, state-of-the-art, sosi, business-class coach came to the rescue. Whoa, yebaahh! Citylink  is here, thank heavens!

But still, the convenience and relaxed ride I had this morning amidst of the race to hit my 9 am shift,is just like a dream. I didn’t even notice, we were already at East Service Road. Bye bye citilink..

The coach is far more than accommodating. It offers nice smell, not loud but audible sound system,, comfy couch, clean and neat floors. As it pass through the long stretch of C5 road, I came to ask and wondered—what if im riding like this in EDSA?

Whoa. Its like making a mountain out of molehole. But its possible ..someday..

Right now, I just have to satisfy myself dreamin about the most convenient commute I ever had since I came here.tsk.tsk.tsk.

KUNG FU PANDA: AWESOMENESS!

i seldom watch animations in the big screen. the last movie i watched so far before ’tis flick is ice age 2. (err.when was that na pala..) but since i need to give a weekend aliw to myself, i ended my saturday with this animation by dreamworks.

a lot of improvement already has been made in the animated movie industry. and tis is one among ’em. not over the 3D figures i watched before, and not undertoned by basic animated graphics and pictures. the simplicity of the plot with the subtle colors and figures made me to watch it relaxed and enjoyable. i didnt even mind the laughters and kakulitan of the kids beside,, behind, and in front of me. deadma.sa ganda ng movie, we even laughed each other’s hearts out.

no wonder, to date kung fu panda remained second in the weekend box office hit ( per themorningrush news @ 17 by delamar yesterday). cliche it may seem, tis movie isnt for kids only, but also for the adults, with or without the “isip-bata” and feeling “bata” , you will certainly laugh for it. anu pa at pati mga parents na kasama sa movie that day eh nag-enjoy din.

substance-wise?  because of the simplicity of the movie, even kids will understand why the scroll is blank . that you got to believe with yourself in whatever endeavor you do in tis life..etc..etc.i wasnt even surprised when one of the kids there asked ‘”mom, why tylong gone bad?”

PBB TEENS PLUS BIG NIGHT; THE FRENCH OPEN FINALS = got crazy but need to get over with

Saturday was a Big Night for the PBB Teens, but for me, it will only mean that my PBB nights will soon come to end. No more rushing to go home during after work, just to hit the 9 30 to 10 P. M starting time. No more discussions the morning after with ate lani, ate tess and even with RMS of our opinions of what happened from that night..no more teasing of the PBB reactions with the tasks given to them. Its finally over.

I was more excited when I watched the final nomination night wherein alex was the final evictee that give way to the remaining housemates to be finally declared as the Big Four. .excitement overwhelmed me too much that I even shrieked knowing that Robi will be one among them.

And so Saturday came, I disregard my overtime duty and went home immediately to prepare for the night.though I wont be watching the big  night live, it was my first time to watch the full show.

But all my excitement ended, when the winner emerged to be ejay. Okay, he is the winner. But I still bet for Robi, till now. Notice the genuine Wow he had blurted out the moment he went out from the bahay ni kuya. Hay.

I almost forgot the Rolland Garros Finale. It is Federer vs. Nadal once again! After the three sets, I did not came to notice that it was already over, Nadal winning the 4th grand slam trophy as the King of Clay soared over the coliseum. Am not that satisfied with his winning though, I had much enjoyed his last match with federer last year wherein there is a close fight. No wonder, The 6-2,6-3,6-0 scores of Nadal to Federer this year shows how many unforced errors Federer commited during the entire match.

Thanks to GMA’s proclamation of Monday as a holiday, the weekend with this bizarre events gave me a time not to become SERYOSO of the results.

Anyways, I can’t wait to check out the Survivor Philippines.

pikitmata

Ang walang kamatayang Long lines and siksikan. a pandemonium of people from all ages. Traffic. The heat. The sudden drizzle. Regardless of these hassles, the long wait is over.

Iv at least grabbed the chance to catch a glimpse of the World Pyro Olympics Show in Mall of Asia last Saturday, may31, 2008.  despite the ticket price of 150 pax (plus nilibre ko pa sister ko para may kasama, hehe) I was one among those who patiently stayed in the seaside view until 7 30 for the finale.

Nakakatuwa ang mga bata na nasa tabi nmin ni joi nung nag umpisa na ang fellowship of the fire. They were so overwhelmed with the loud, thunder-like sound of the fireworks.

An hour later they announced that  Italy won.  Since I was not able to watch Italy’s show, I just satisfied myself to watch the youtube copy.

Like the fellowship of the fire, I was bedazzled by the Philippine exhibition.
