FIRST BOOK: TWILIGHT

My curiosity to Twilight activated when it became a word of mouth from my friends, not discounting the fact that it was even a phenomenal movie to date during the last quarter of 2008. I almost ignored my friends plea to the bookstores they went to make the series available. I almost choose pizza over the promotional price of the first book.

Almost.

I have no clear or may I say , a total point of view of the whole movie, since I was discouraged by just seeing the pirated copy of it( after missing the playdate) I tried to make myself patient to watch the dvd instead. But the disappointment reached me until the DVD was already released last month.

The Book

twilight-book-cover1It was a first hand encounter to get the book and immediately read it. I have no idea how Meyer had presented, nor even have read any review of it .   It was bare. Raw.  And , that drove my curiosity to read more. Even if Meyer used Bella’s POV in the story, Edward had exude his own character and presented himself as the vampire he should be, without distorting the comprehension and knowledge of Bella as the story teller.

Reading it made me laughed most of the times for the humor embedded during the conversations between Bella and Edward. It was the classic, natural lines that made the complications between the two characters simple, but beautiful.

The story had proven that the complexities of being a highschool student, of having a forbidden love, or of being a vampire itself can lead to a simple honesty and acceptance. Meyer had singled out her choice of conversations from the stereotype swoons and admirations.

“Give me a minute to restart my Heart”

“Humor me”

“Men are crabby when they are hungry”

The book as a whole had intgrigued me more on how Meyer told us the story she had dreamnt four years ago. It was clear as crystal on how she had described the details ,even the meadow where Edward had shown how he looked like under the sunlight.  Without the movie, thru those words i feel like im seeing Forks too. In the scorching heat in manila, i can feel the chills while reading it.

The resolution of the story summed up the story of Edward and Bella to be independent from the next series . If im not a stubborn reader, i can content myself with Twilight alone. I wont bother to rush myself to look for the New Moon everyday at the bookstore. I wont try to attempt to print the 365 pages of the e-book. I wont give a damn to care and read the rough draft of Midnight Sun, even if it means reading Edward’s version in my tiny mobile phone and painstakingly wait for it to load per page.
